4 SPECIFICATIONS
The City of Hot Springs, Arkansas, on behalf of the Intracity Transit is accepting bids to purchase up to twelve (12)
bus stops/passengers waiting for shelters to be funded for public transit service. This is not a guaranteed quantity
and shall not exceed twelve (12). It is subject to change based on the budget available. The following specifications
and attached specifications form describe the minimum requirements for a bus shelter.
Any and all freight charges, demurrage, fuel surcharges, or special handing charges shall be price separately.
Order will be accompanied by a City Purchase Order.
The equipment bid shall be of new, current design production model and available to the commercial market. Use of
demonstrator shelters shall not be acceptable. The bid shall include one (1) copy of the manufacturer's published
specification and warranty. The City reserves the right to review the manufacturer's specifications and choose the
unit deemed to be in the City's best interest.The equipment shall comply with all state and federal safety
requirements. Any deviations to these specifications shall be explained. The City of Hot Springs reserves the right
to award the sections that are within the budget available.

1. Shelters shall comply with all applicable safety regulations including but not limited to the following:

Service
1. The manufacturer or supplier of the aforementioned shelters shall guarantee replacement parts and
components for the shelters for a period of not less than ten (10) years from the date of purchase.
2. Prior to delivery of any bench, the manufacturer shall provide to the City of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a
parts/price catalog listing all bench components, cross reference drawings of the components, and current
prices for each of the components.
3. Shelters shall be delivered to the City in preassembled subassemblies to minimize the amount of “in field”
assembly work. This means all connections, fittings, sub-members, non-adjustable components, and
subassemblies shall be assembled by the manufacturer prior to delivery to the City.
4. The sub-assemblies will include the roof, sidewalls, and rear walls.
5. Components that, if preassembled, are subject to damage in shipping and handling should not be attached to
the subassemblies.
6. Other components, such as the benches, shall be preassembled as completely as possible.
7. Other items such as bench mounting brackets, shelter mounting brackets, anchor bolts, fasteners, etc. shall
be shipped on pallets or in crates with all containers clearly labeled with part number, description, and
quantity.
8. All glazing angles, frames or brackets, all bench mounting brackets, all subassembly to subassembly
connections, and the components to which these items are to be attached shall be pre-drilled by a precision
method to facilitate field assembly of the shelter.
9. The shelter components shall be adequately protected to prevent scarring or damaging to the various
surfaces during shipment.
10. Shelters shall be delivered with each shipment containing complete units (including, all subassemblies, roof
and fascias, and window glass).
11. Payments shall be withheld on components delivered which do not comprise complete shelter units unless
such deliveries are approved in advance by the City.
12. All exposed surfaces and edges shall be smooth, free of burrs, sharp edges, slivers, and other undesirable
projections, and shall be neatly finished.
13. There shall be no welds in any of the aluminum surfaces unless so designated or approved by the City.
14. All parts are to be jig manufactured to allow the interchangeability of components.
Maintenance
1. As part of the bid, the manufacturer shall provide a complete set of written, (and diagrammatic as necessary)
instructions for the assembly and installation of the benches.
2. Prior to the delivery of any shelter, the manufacturer shall provide to the City a parts/price catalog listing all
shelter components, cross reference drawings of the components, and current prices for each component.
Warranty and Special Requirements
1. Note - All text documents and original graphics generated by the manufacturer shall be submitted in both
hard copy format and CD ROM. For drawings, the computer files shall be submitted in AutoCAD format. Text
documents shall be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
2. All diagrammatic and text material shall be submitted on 8-1/2” x 11” x 17” sheets to allow for copying and
distribution the assembly and installation phase of the shelter project.
3. Warranty for the benches and all associated parts of the shelter shall be submitted in writing with the bid. A
breakdown of all parts and main components shall be listed with the warranty terms.
4. Length of warranty will be considered during the evaluation and award process.
5. The manufacturer shall provide proof of design and testing.
6. Warranty work must cover defects in materials. Defects shall include, but are not limited to:
Operation:
Noisy, rough, or substandard operation.
Parts:
Loose, damaged, and/or missing parts.
Finish:
Abnormal deterioration.
